We accept 'Most' VISA, Master Card, and Discover. Oh, and we also accept the good 'ol cash. We do Not take: Apple Pay, Crypto, Venmo, Paypal, or any digital payment app. And since some people aren't as honest as other people, we don't accept personal checks or IOU's. We also do not accept AmEx or any cards issued by Chase Bank - cause we think they suck! But for your convenience, we do have an ATM that does not discriminate like we do.
Sorry, you can't buy out the entire bar on a Friday or Saturday night after 9pm for you and your friends to have a private party with your own DJ! But we may consider doing that for you from 6p-9p any evening we're open. Your group will need to be at least 40 people, and you will need to stake a $500 bar guarantee. As long as you hit the mark, it costs you nothing! In the event that you're so stuffy that you must eat at a restaurant that requires a reservation, you probably won't like Butter anyway - much less get it.
Put a Pin in It!
Butter is located at 354 11th Street, San Francisco, California 94103 between Folsom and Harrison in SF's Western SOMA District. We've been holding down the block since '99, and are directly across from BuzzWorks Craft Spirits & Sports Bar, adjacent to The DNA, Audio, & Halcyon with SOMA Street Food just one block south of us.
Seriously, is there any point in having these typed out anymore? Please let us know! Yo, here's the deal. You're trying to get to 354 11th Street, San Francisco, California 94103.
From the South Bay
Take US-101 North to San Francisco. Take the 9th St. exit towards the Civic Center and merge onto the 9th Street. Turn left onto Harrison Street. Turn right onto 11th Street and we're halfway up the block on your left.
From the East Bay
Take I-80 to the Bay Bridge and cross over the bay to San Francisco. Take the 9th St. exit towards the Civic Center and merge onto the 9th Street. Turn left onto Harrison Street. Turn right onto 11th Street and we're halfway up the block on your left.
From the North Bay
Get yourself onto US 101 South and cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the Lombard St. exit/US 101, which turns into Richardson Avenue for a couple of blocks, but don't sweat it, just keep going.
Richardson then turns into Lombard = no big deal, just keep cruising down Lombard for about a mile. Take a right onto Van Ness Avenue and head south down Van Ness for about 1.5 miles. Then turn left on Fell Street and cross Market Street and maneuver over to the right lane. Turn right onto Harrison and then turn right onto 11th Street and we're halfway up the block on your left.
This is San Francisco, home of Uber and Lyft...'nuff said. Or be ‘ole fashioned and hail a cab... the conversations are better. But generally, if you get down here before 8:30 PM you can find street parking...but parking your car in the dark alleys around here is a bad idea on every level. If you do plan on arriving after 8:30 PM, your best bet is the Costco Parking Garage for $10 all night, just one block down. Please take precautions and store your valuables in your trunk.
Our neighborhood Butter is located in San Francisco's SOMA (South of Market) area. A trip to the 11th and Folsom corridor is a trip to one of San Francisco's most lively neighborhoods. By day, the streets are filled with industrial delivery trucks mixed with dot comers (depending on the state of the "New Economy") and by night, our area has become synonymous with nighttime fun. SOMA is also home for a lot of folks, so please read the note at the bottom of this page!
Located within just 2 blocks of Butter…
BuzzWorks Sports Tavern, Californio's, Garage Cafe & Pizza, The Willows, DNA Pizza, V-Cafe, EAT Sushi Japanese Restaurant, Basil Canteen Thai Eatery, Menora Thai, Don Ramon's Mexican Restaurant, and a bunch of random bacon-wrapped hot dog street vendors that come out late at night.
Other Clubs in OUR Hood
BuzzWorks Craft Beer Sports Bar, The DNA Lounge, Audio SF, Bergerac Lounge, Halcyon Night Club, YOLO Nightclub, The Holy Cow, Willows, The Lone Star Saloon, The SF Eagle, SF Foundry...and the list keeps growing.
A Word About Respect
Please remember that the 11th Street corridor isn't solely a place for nighttime entertainment. Many people call this neighborhood home. When you visit Butter, please remember to show the same respect to our neighbors and neighborhood as you would expect others to show to yours.
